As a Terraria player who owns and uses multiple computers (a Desktop and a Laptop) I was disappointed to find that when I played offline Terraria on the other computer my character and world weren't there.

I found out it's simply because playing offline saves your character and world data locally to your My Documents - My Games folder.

Then I had the brialliant idea to use DropBox to sync that folder so that no matter what computer I played Terraria on, as long as I had DropBox installed and that folder synced, i'd be able to load my player and world with the most up to date save.

Here is a simple guide on how to do that:
-make sure you do these steps on ALL computers you want to sync
-also, your computers need to always be connected to the internet for this to work.
while you are playing offline, your saves will only sync if your computers are online
  1. Install Terraria through Steam.

  2. Install DropBox with the same DropBox account for all computers. If you need a DropBox account sign up here (first 2.5GB is free!): www.DropBox.com.

  3. Install DropboxFolderSync Dropbox Folder Sync 2.7 Download.

  4. Right click on the Terraria folder within the 'My Games' folder (C:/User/My Documents/My Games/Terraria) and click
    "Sync with Dropbox."

  5. Make sure your DropBox has finished syncing all the files and then start up Terarria and your player and world will be selectable and it will be the most up to date save!
UPDATE: Also works with Minecraft!
Minecraft saves located at:
C:/User/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft on Windows
and ~/Library/Application support/minecraft on Mac.

*NOTE: When trying to load your saves on a new computer, you may have to navigate to the save folder and add it to sync even though that folder had been added to sync on another computer. This will ask you if you want to "Merge" the folders. Unless you have two seperate saves named the exact same thing (which you would need to rename one of them to prevent overwriting one), you can go ahead and merge without worry.
