Pulp and Paper: Fiber Recovery, De-inking,
Process and Wastewater Treatment
In secondary fiber stock preparation and paper machine systems, it is common practice to clarify and recycle filtrates. Most of the progress in this industry is due to environmental concerns, but operational and economical considerations are also a factor in the recovery and reutilization of valuable components of these process streams.
Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Technology
The Dissolved Air Flotation clarification process is ideal for paper mill operations because it matches the process requirements in a number of ways.
- Contaminant particles, as well as residual fiber fines and ash in the filtrate and reject streams, are small, well suited for flotation.
- The DAF process is inherently faster than settling.
- The short retention time of DAF assures that recovered fiber will be in good condition for reuse.
Krofta technology is operating in over forty percent of all paper mills in North America and is the leading brand for pulp and paper water treatment worldwide. Recent Krofta installations include Georgia Pacific in the USA and two Vinda Paper plants in China.
