Removal of Fats, Grease, and Oils
Food Processing is a water-intensive operation. The enforcement of strict wastewater discharge regulations, coupled with escalating sewage surcharges, has forced the food processing industry to look for cost-effective technologies for the pretreatment or complete treatment of their wastewaters.
Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Technology
Food industry wastewater treatment is an ideal application for DAF technology as the major effluents of the industry (fats, oils, and grease) lend themselves to flotation. There are hundreds of Krofta style units operating worldwide in the food industry, processing wastewaters from breweries, dairies, canneries, meatpacking plants, slaughterhouses, fisheries, and process foods.
Applications include primary clarification, secondary treatment, and effluent polishing. Kraft Foods, Keebler Foods, and Granny's Poultry in Canada are recent customers.
